The term is coming to an end, and what a busy term it has been.  Time has just flown by with the many celebrations such as Maths week, Tongan language week and Literacy week we have had over the last few weeks. Here’s a quick look at our term so far.

SPEECHES

Well done to all B3 Finalists who participated in our Pod speeches on  August 19th 2015. There were so many awesome speeches and a range of topics which made it hard for our judges. They all did a fantastic job!!  

A special Congratulations to Maulpe Maka who came 1st for the Tongan speeches and Rosalina Ulugia who placed 1st for the English speeches.

NZ Sign Language

This term we welcome Shoshone into our classroom. As you may know, New Zealand  has 3 official languages- English, Maori and New Zealand Sign language. Shoshone is here not only to work with Angelena (in our class) who is hearing impaired but also all students in B3 and myself. She will teaching us simple sign language which is a great opportunity for everyone to learn another form of communication.

It is awesome to see your children take this on board with such a positive attitude.

Maths Week 7

In Week 7 our school celebrated Maths Week. Mathematical challenges were placed around the school, there were activities during lunch and each class attended the Maths Roadshow. It was a great way for our children to see that maths is important in our everyday lives.

Literacy Week 8

 Week 8 was our school Literacy week. Like Maths week, we had activities during lunch, class and a couple of assemblies as a school. This was one  FUN filled week with both students and teachers dressing in a onezie, as a book character or an author. Great to see everyone getting into the spirit and also creating an awareness of the importance of reading and writing.
