State of Emergency – school messages !

Feb 14 – 4pm update -ST MMK will be open Wednesday 15 February.:

Kia ora Koutou whānau ,

I hope that you and your families are all safe and well and you have come through the very nasty weather last night without any major problems.

ST MMK will be open Wednesday 15 February.

The weather forecast is for very little, if any rain from this afternoon and the winds according to the reports drop overnight.

I have just completed an inspection of the school to assess their safety for our return to classes on Wednesday.

We have had a tree go down on our fence line, but this will not stop us from our school day.

Teaching spaces are safe and dry and ready for students and we are looking forward to having everyone back.

Keep in contact and stay safe

Following this afternoon’s meeting with the Ministry of Education and the warnings from Emergency Services regarding Cyclone Gabrielle, we, alongside the board, have decided in the safety of our tamariki, families and staff, that school will be closed on Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th of February.

We will make a decision about whether we open on Wednesday the 15th by 1pm on Tuesday the 14th.

We will be communicating through Facebook, text (where possible) email and class dojo so please keep yourself informed through these channels.

We know how disruptive closures are, but rest assured you that our highest priority is the safety of our community at this uncertain time. Please reach out if your family is in need of assistance.

Sunday Feb 12 9.30 am

Kia ora St MMK whanau,

Hope everyone is safe and well, and are keeping up to date with all the information surrounding Cyclone Gabrielle and the extreme weather heading towards Auckland.

From reports it appears that the worst of the weather will be here on Monday and Tuesday, with heavy rain and strong winds.

There has been no instruction from the Ministry of Education to close schools at this time and we are preparing to start our new week on Monday as normal.

If there is a change, we will keep ST MMK whānau updated via our Facebook page, text and email communications.

If you do not receive any updates from our school, please continue to follow the Civil Defence directions https://www.civildefence.govt.nz/
